My name is Shelby
UPDATE 8/30/2012:  Shelby is rescued and in a great foster home!  If you are interested in adopting this kitty, let us know!
Today we have a special buff orange tabby male named Shelby.  Shelby is 8 years old and was surrendered by his owner with his brother Biscuit.  Biscuit has been put up for adoption, but Shelby was not because of a mild flea allergy (super easy to treat).  This love monkey is desperately looking for someone to rescue him.  We need a commitment to adopt him TODAY to save him.
Last night when one of the shelter volunteers was visiting with him, he kept gently pawing her to keep petting him.  We need a compassionate cat lover to be Shelby's hero!

Please contact me ASAP if you can help get this boy out of the shelter.

Thanks for being a San Jose Animal Advocate!

It's still kitten season.  The local shelters are full, and the cat rescue groups are overwhelmed saving as many kittens as they can.  These 3 gorgeous siamese cats need rescue from the shelter ASAP due to minor medical issues and shelter overcrowding.  If you can provide a good home to any one of these cats, please contact us immediately so we can arrange for a rescue.

Everyone needs a cat with spectacular blue eyes :)

UPDATE:  We learned that Cecilia and Kammy came in to the shelter together; surrendered due to the death of their guardian.  It would be nice if they could go to a new home together.

Sweet Sarah needs a home
During kitten season, it sucks to be an adult cat :(

These beautiful Siamese kitties are mature, and easy to please.  They want to warm your lap and purr by your side.  We are coordinating with local cat rescue groups to get these guys out of the San Jose shelter, but need a permanent home (or a very committed foster home who can help us find them a permanent home).  If you can help, please let us know!  Thanks.

UPDATE:  8/23/2012  Julia has been adopted by a wonderful family!  Good luck sweet girl!!!  You have many fans in our community!
Picture
Julia is a sweet 5-year-old Auzzie-Bulldog mix (don't know why she was described as a Boxer!) who is a great medium size at 41lbs.

She is energetic, playful and interested in everything and everyone. Julia has had some training and is very treat motivated and eager to please, learning new things all the time. She seems very smart and responsive to her human companions, making lots of eye contact and ready to try anything. Julia is also very affectionate, offering lots of kisses, cuddles and even a paw to shake.

Picture
Julia is currently dog-reactive in that she barks and lunges at other dogs, both on leash and off.  For this reason she needs to be an only dog and should not go to a dog park until she has had proper training. She also cannot live with cats.

Julia needs experienced dog-owners who are willing to use her tremendous train-ability to help her overcome her reactivity to other dogs--no first-time owners please. This is a wonderful dog who adores humans and just needs more training and support than the Shelter can provide her.

San Jose shelter hours and directions can be found at www.sanjoseanimals.com  Go visit Julia today!!

UPDATE 8/12/2012:  A great foster home has been found for Champ!  Thanks to everyone who helped spread the word about this special dog!

Champ is blind
San Jose Animal Advocates was recently contacted by a local vet technician who asked for our help with a finding a home for a blind pit bull.

This poor dog was found in a school yard in Campbell tied to a tree with a computer cord.  He was rushed to an emergency vet and based on his injuries (including trauma to both his eyes) the vet believes he was used as a "bait" dog.  Due to the kindness of many people at a local vet hospital, "Champ" has been healing from his injuries and his surgery to remove both his eyes.  The discounted vet costs have totaled $1,100.

Picture
Despite his injuries, Champ is a happy dog!
Despite his traumatic history, Champ has been doing very well and has won the hearts of all the good people at the vet office where he is staying.  Unfortunately he can no longer stay at the vet and is in desperate need of a loving temporary or permanent home.  While Champ heals, it has been recommended that he be the only dog.

We are helping spread the word about this loving dog, and have set up a Facebook Page (Champions for Champ).  In addition, we are collecting donations to help cover his vet fees.  Donations can be made through Chipin

Please share Champ's story with your animal loving friends and family.  In addition, if anyone has any ideas of organizations we can contact to help Champ, please don't hesitate to contact us!

UPDATE 8/7/2012:  We managed to find a great foster home, but it turns out that this momma and her 2 puppies have been picked by the local shelter to travel to the Pacific Northwest to a Humane Society there.  These 3 sweet dogs will have a great life with families in the Pacific Northwest!
Picture
This young chiweenie mom found herself in the shelter with two 5 week old puppies.  We are looking for a good foster home for the three of these sweet dogs to give the puppies time to be old enough to be spayed/neutered.

If you can help us, please contact Georgia at [email protected].  We have no time to spare on helping out this adorable family!

UPDATE 8/10/2012: Morgan has been adopted by A nice, mother & daughter pair whose cats died couple of years ago at 18.  They came in specifically for Morgan.  They are thinking of adopting a 2nd cat later to keep him company if he does like other cats so, for now, he is the only cat.
Morgan has been through a lot.  He was rescued from an abusive situation by San Jose Animal Control and has been staying at the shelter since April during the investigation into the case.  Despite all of this drama, Morgan has moved on and is thrilled to be available for adoption!!!  This is one super sweet kitty, who absolutely loves sitting in your lap and is so friendly you never would know he has come from a difficult situation.  Morgan is looking for a special person to love him and keep him safe for the rest of his life.  Is it you?

Here is Morgan's profile at the San Jose Animal Care Center.  The shelter opens at 11am on Saturday!  Go down and adopt this special kitty ASAP!
