UPDATE 12/24/2012:  A wonderful foster home stepped forward and Pok Pok was rescued on Christmas Eve Day!  If his foster home doesn't fall in love with him, he will be up for adoption soon!  

Pok Pok is a 9 year old chihuahua who needs a home by 12/26!  He has been at the shelter for about 2 months and his time is up.  This gentle little boy loves all other dogs, and has a unique little walk.  He is a true gentle soul who wants nothing more than to snuggle with his person during the holidays.
We know this is super last minute, but we were just informed that he has only until 12/26 :(

Aren't these gorgeous girls?  Why are these beautiful cats in the shelter?   We may never know.  

What we do know is that they need a committed temporary home so that they can be rescued.  Due to dental issues (their teeth need cleaning and maybe some extractions), they cannot be put up for adoption at the shelter.

How would you like a warm kitty to cuddle up with during these chilly nights?   If you would be willing to offer a temporary home for one of these kitties, we can make sure they are rescued from the shelter in time for the holidays.

UPDATE 12/18/2012:  This girl has been named "Snow" and she was rescued tonight from the shelter.  She is in a great foster home and will soon be available for adoption!

This pretty girl is about 4 years old and has found herself in the shelter during the holiday season.  Unfortunately she is not available for adoption due to a minor skin condition.

We are facilitating her rescue from the San Jose shelter.  Do you need a lap warmer these chilly nights?  Do you need a zen presence during the holiday rush?  Consider providing a temporary home to this beauty. You won't regret it!!!  Please complete our foster application TODAY!

San Jose Animal Advocates tries to promote and network our shelter pets in need as soon as we hear they are in danger.  Mimi, a 4 year old sweet red pittie mix was a recent example of a great dog who just couldn't tolerate the shelter environment any longer.  The shelter staff and volunteers did all they could to make her comfortable, but after all it is a shelter, not a home!  Mimi needed a home and one ASAP!

We are always so grateful for all of the networking support we get from our San Jose Animal Advocates network.  People shared her story, photos and a touching video the shelter volunteers created to market Mimi far and wide.  And it worked!!!  Mimi went home yesterday with a wonderful family.  Now all she needs is a soccer ball under the tree on Christmas!
