San Jose Animal Advocates

UPDATE - 5/30/13 Extra, extra...read all about it! After a longish stint in the shelter, Dexter is in a foster home tonight. Dexter is available for adoption through St. Francis Animal Protection Society!
PictureYes, I know I'm handsome.
This beautiful boy was adopted from the San Jose shelter and returned. He needs a foster home urgently! The shelter is very stressful for him and he's not handling it well.

Dexter is a 1.5 year old, neutered male Border Collie mix who gets along with other dogs. He especially likes to play with a tennis ball.

Border Collies are an extremely intelligent and very active breed. Dexter will require regular exercise and mental stimulation.  He also needs some further training.

If you are interested in giving Dexter a temporary or permanent home, please contact us so we can get this guy out of his scary shelter environment and into a home! Email: [email protected]

Yes, I would like to meet Dexter to foster or adopt. I will be out of town until Tuesday, May 28, I hope you can keep him til then, we have another dog, a terrier/x, I think Dex and she,Maddie, would be good for each other......can you keep him until next week?

Hi. My doctor says I need to get out more and my friends tell me I need a pet. I am a disabled veteran and would like to be co considered for this guy. I think it would do us both some good. I am disabled retired with no mobility issues. Thanks for reading tbis

Dexter is being fostered with a dog I currently walk every day and I've had the pleasure of walking him twice now. I've fallen in LOVE with him!! He's super sweet, gets along with people and dogs just wonderfully and walks on leash SO nicely! I'll be sad to see Dexter go because it's fun to walk him and he's so well behaved! Whoever adopts him is EXTRA lucky!!!

Dog Duty: That is incredibly wonderful that Dexter is getting to go on lovely walks with you and his foster brother! He looks like such a cutie and I would take him home with me in a heartbeat. Unfortunately I have brought all of my adopted family members with me back home, and one is very old and needs constant care, and my mom has said "No more!" Not until I get a place of my own. I am sad that I can't take all of the dogs in the world home right now, but hearing that Dexter, a dog who could be spending another agonizing and lonely 24 hours scared and locked up, gets to instead be spending it out in the sunshine with you and his foster brother, is such a gift and I'm glad you posted it here to share with those concerned about Dexter's plight! You are adding positives to the negatives in Dexter's life, and soon the positives will outweigh the negatives, making his life one of the happy endings we all love to hear about! Thank you for your positive contribution to Dexter's success and his happy ending!
